Fall Back

I've heard people complain about it getting darker out sooner, protest the long nights, the lack of sunshine. Personally, I love it :) Maybe we run fewer errands and do a little less cleaning. No more yard work and less light to clean the trash out of the van. Instead there are long dinners that last well beyond the food. Lengthy conversations over empty plates as the sun goes down instead of running out the door to the grocery store. No more evening walks and playing at the park. Instead there are dance parties in the living room, my husband playing the guitar and making up silly songs with the boys. For every season there is a purpose . . . but this one is my favorite!

Even if you don't agree, really, who couldn't use a little more time? What do you plan on doing with your "extra" hour?

Ah, but I do love the sweet sweet summer evenings here at the Stone house! I really struggle with winter, the lack of light, the cold bitter short days. But the time change gives me slower mornings, which I do enjoy.

I think you are right. All seasons have a reason. I love the change. Summer is for hanging outside in the evenings and winter is for inside snuggling and stitching. I live in southern Virginia and spring and fall don't happen too often. I am going to use my extra hour to stitch.

I must agree with you Jennie Lynn...I do love this time of year. Early evenings welcome dinners by candlelight, time spent between the pages of a favourite book, and a bit of needlework (of course.)

Wishing you lovely winter evenings...

Warmly,
Judy

I love the changing seasons, and I don't mind the evenings getting darker at this time of year. (But come Feb./Mar., I am ready for more sunshine!) Right now, however, I am happy to be able to hunker down in the evenings, light the candles, and stitch in my favorite chair. So cozy, warm and peaceful. We need these less frenetic days to regroup for the next spring/summer!
I was hoping to sleep in this morning with our extra hour, but was awoken by my daughter trying to figure out what time it was!!! Maybe a nice afternoon nap is in order.... Have a great Sunday!
